Jack from Bluff

The fisherman is John Palmer Cantrick, known as Jack or Jackie Cantrick. In 1947, as a 15 year old having just left school, he was given the job of skippering a fishing boat at Bluff. As an 86 year-old skipper living in Nelson with his own boat the President Kennedy he was still fishing. This could well be the story of New Zealand's oldest fisherman as well as the country's youngest and oldest skipper of a fishing boat.

The book 'Jack from Bluff’, about the fishing career of Jack (Jackie) Cantrick, was very popular and sold out. It will be reprinted by Anchor Print in Nelson and be available again in about two weeks at the same price, $45 a book which includes postage NZ.  To order contact Ross Cantrick at [email protected]
